Terms of use

These terms apply when you use the Duka website, order from us or ask us to source an item. Duka is run by Duka Trading Limited, Plot 00, Example Road
Kampala, Uganda. By placing an order or a quote request you accept these terms.

1. Orders

When you place an order we contact you by phone or WhatsApp to confirm it. An order is only accepted once we confirm it with you. We may decline an order, for example if an item is out of stock or a price on the website is clearly wrong. If that happens we tell you before delivery and you pay nothing.

2. Prices and payment

All prices are in Ugandan shillings (UGX). The delivery fee for your area is shown at checkout and added to the total. You pay the full amount in cash when your order is delivered. Please have the amount ready; riders may not always carry change.

3. Quotes for sourced items

  • When you send us a link or a photo, we check availability and send you a quote. A quote request does not commit you to buy.
  • Each quote shows the price of every item, including shipping to Kampala, and the date until which it is valid (normally 3 days). Prices from overseas sellers change often, so after that date we may need to quote again.
  • If we offer an alternative item, the quote says so. You decide whether to accept it.
  • When you accept a quote (on the website or by replying on WhatsApp), we buy the item for you. Because we buy it specially, please only accept if you intend to buy.
  • Delivery times for sourced items are estimates. Delays caused by sellers, couriers or customs can happen; we keep you informed.

4. Delivery

We deliver to the areas listed at checkout. Someone must be available at the phone number you gave to receive the order. If we cannot reach you after several attempts we may cancel the order. Please check your items when they arrive.

5. Returns and refunds

Our Delivery and returns page explains how returns work for shop items and for sourced items. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Ugandan consumer law.

6. Product information

We describe and photograph products as accurately as we can. Colours on screens can look slightly different. For sourced items, we rely on the seller's description and check it as far as we reasonably can.

7. Using the website

Do not misuse the website, for example by sending false orders, automated requests or harmful content. We protect our forms with Google reCAPTCHA.

8. Liability

We are responsible for delivering what you ordered in the condition described. We are not responsible for losses we could not reasonably foresee, or for delays outside our control. Our total liability for an order is limited to the amount you paid for it, except where the law does not allow this limit.

9. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Uganda.
